Dr. Chan obtained his Honours Bachelor of Science (Hon.B.Sc.) degree at the University of Toronto in 1994. He received his dental training at the University of Western Ontario School of Dentistry, where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in 1997. After completing dental school, Dr. Chan entered the Pediatric Dental Residency Training Program at British Columbia's Children's Hospital, through the University of British Columbia School of Dentistry. He then went on to do his Specialty Training in Pediatric Dentistry in the United States at the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle, where he obtained his Master of Science in Dentistry (M.S.D.) degree and his Diploma in Pediatric Dentistry (Dip.Ped.Dent.) in 2000. Dr. Chan finally became a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (F.R.C.D.C.) in Pediatric Dentistry in 2001, and a Certified Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry in British Columbia in 2002.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Chan is involved with teaching at the U.B.C. School of Dentistry and has been a clinical assistant professor at the Faculty since 1997. Dr. Chan has been on staff at British Columbia's Children's Hospital since 2000. He has also been on the Board of Directors for the Chinese Canadian Dental Society of British Columbia since 2000. The C.C.D.S.B.C. plays a vital role in providing public dental health education for the Chinese community in the Lower Mainland.
Monarch Pediatric Dental Centre was first founded by Dr. Hung & Dr. Gärtner in 1997. Dr. Chan joined Monarch Burnaby as an associate in 2000. Together, they are proud to open Monarch Port Moody in 2005
